Lauren Gill is a junior at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas and a member of our One Good Turn Community. Lauren’s Good Turn is the Med Bag Project, which provides basic medical and hygiene supples to asylum seekers at the US-Mexico Border.

At the border, there are families living in tent cities while waiting to gain legal access to the United States, a process that can take several months to complete. Lauren recognized that these families left their homes with few belongings and with no means to replenish some basic helpful essentials such as over-the-counter medicines, first aid supplies and basic hygiene necessities.

To fill this need, Lauren organized and raised funds to personally deliver hundreds of bags to tent cities in Matamoros, Mexico and Brownville, Texas. While in school, Lauren continues to fund raise, assemble bags and ships them to Teams at Border.
